Villa S

Stuttgart, Germany

Built in 1936, the villa was completely renovated and redeveloped in 2001. Along with the furnishings, the architecture was also fundamentally redesigned. The original rather conservative architecture of the house gave way to a spacious and open residential landscape. This was split up into two residential arrangements according to the season. With winter in mind, a living room with a fireplace, bedrooms and bathroom are to be found on the ground floor. The winter atmosphere is highlighted by dark and rich colours and by heavy, exquisite materials such as Porto slate and ebony. Dedicated to summer because of its impressive view, the upper floor has in contrast been conceived in bright and Mediterranean hues. The whole floor is made up of a single open room in which the kitchen takes centre stage. It is surrounded by an living and dining area. Sliding doors in the glass fasade allow the area to be extended out onto the terrace. The storey is enclosed by the terrace and it creates a powerful relationship with the exterior. This impression is underlined by a sofa landscape which begin in the room and extend outside. The furnishings are fully matching in every minute detail, whereby the furniture and artefacts are mainly from Italian designers.
